That’s right Mickey Mouse is in the house! He’s our next Star Guest and facts are ready to throw themselves out at our Ebony Ink fans (or even just the people who stumbled by!)
Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 to replace this other character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It’s no wonder he survived this long. Mickey Mouse rocks! Anyway, after the creation, Mickey Mouse and Minnie debuted in the first episode of Mickey Mouse called Plane Crazy. He was created by Walt Disney. He was also voiced by Disney at first and then, Jimmy McDonalds for a while, then Wayne Alwine and then Bret Iwan since 2009. He’s already celebrated a 50th anniversary for which he recieved a star in Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mickey Mouse became the first ever cartoon character to recieve a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame!
More on the Mickey Mouse beginning…He was born in the imagination of Walt Disney in a train ride from New York to LA. He had gone to ask more money to improve Oswald Pictures but had been rejected. “…So I was all alone and had nothing,” Walt recalled later. ” Mrs. Disney and I were coming back from New York on the train and I had to have something I could tell them. I’ve lost Oswald so, I had this mouse in the back of my head because a mouse is sort of a sympathetic character in spite of the fact that everybody’s frightened of a mouse including myself”. First he had named Mickey Mouse Mortimer but his wife thought Mortimer was too pompuous and suggested Mickey. And so our beloved cartoon character was born!
It was funny. Although he sky-rocketed to fame, all of Mickey Mouse’s cartoons were maintained to having the same type of personality. If Mickey Mouse did something sneaky or lost his temper, fans would write and assure the creators that Mickey would never do such a thing. So, more flexible characters were created. They are known as Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. In 1954, Disney agreed to create an afternoon programme for ABC TV. This was how the Mickey Mouse Club was formed. It went on to become the most successful children’s programme ever. Then, in 1955, Mickey Mouse moved in to Disneyland to host.
One of the best tribute given to Mickey Mouse was by Walt Disney. He said, “I hope we never lose sight of one fact… that this was all started by a Mouse.”
That’s all i can say about our mouse Mickey. I would like to thank Wikipedia and www.mickey-mouse.com for the great info!
