Demi Cutting Herself…Again?

Pictures have been surfacing of Demi Lovato, the sixteen-year-old singer and actress currently touring with American Idol 2008 runner-up David Archuleta, showing her with what appear to be wounds on her wrist similar to cutting scars. Is the starlet harming herself?

This isn’t the first time that Lovato has had to fight these rumors. Following her appearance at Miley Cyrus’s birthday party last fall, pictures showed Lovato with red marks on her wrist that made it look as though she had been self-mutilating. A representative for Lovato said, “Demi was wearing gummy bracelets just prior to her appearance on the red carpet and, because of how tight they were, they left indentations on her wrist.”

Just my personal opinion here so correct me if I’m wrong, but if they really were ‘indentations’ from ‘gummy bracelets’ then wouldn’t they go all the way around the wrist? In the pictures below, it’s hard to believe they are marks from super-tight bracelets. And considering it’s happened more than once I’m going to be bold here and put myself with the people who believe she is cutting herself.Oct 15 Mileys b-day party

Like Miley, Demi is a role model to a lot of young fans and if she really is cutting herself (one thing to understand here is that no one really  knows for sure-there are a lot of ifs here) then it’s best for her to get some help. It’s something many teenagers do to release stress and you don’t have to be an emo to be cutting yourself (that’s such a common stereotype). But let’s keep in mind that a starlet like herself is under a lot of pressure and stress. Just because she’s rich and popular does not mean she has no personal problems in her life. Forget her personal life, but just the pressure of being the most popular in the Disney world is enough to cause depression. Let’s not forget that she is human too and people make mistakes and they have different ways of dealing with them and I’m not trying to say it’s okay for people to harm themselves, I’m just saying that if that’s the way Demi decided to deal with her problems then that’s her choice. I think we can all grant her that much freedom and privacy.

Paris Jackson’s Gift To Daddy

I know that a lot of you are interested in the Michael Jackson thing so I found another article about it on Yahoo! Entertainment. 🙂

Michael Jackson’s grieving daughter wrapped a heart necklace around his wrist as his body lay in an open coffin.

Paris Jackson, 11, wanted to give the piece of jewellery to her late father when she visited him at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Cemetery last Monday (06.07.09) as she wanted to make sure he always had something to remind him of her.

Michael’s elder sister La Toya, who witnessed the heartbreaking act during the family’s private viewing, said: “Paris told me, ‘The heart is in two pieces. I want one half to go to daddy and I will wear the other half forever.’

“She carefully wrapped it around his wrist and said, ‘Daddy this is for you. On daddy, it will be blue because he is cold. On me, it’s purple. He’s so cold, he is so cold.’ ”

Paris bought the necklace – which changes colour according to temperature – after Michael died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month and she wore it when she made her emotional tribute to him at his memorial service last Tuesday (07.07.09).

Paris Jackson

As well as the jewellery, Paris also got some coloured stones to decorate her dad’s body with.

La Toya – who has claimed Michael was murdered by the “shadowy entourage” he surrounded himself – also recalled the moment she first saw Paris and her brothers, Prince Michael I and Prince Michael II, also known as ‘Blanket’, after the ‘Thriller’ singer’s death.

She said: “When I got to the hospital my mother was crying and the kids were crying. I screamed, ‘Is it true?’ and my mother said, ‘Yes, he’s gone.’ I couldn’t stop crying. I’m screaming and the kids are screaming. My mother was sitting there with all three of them on her lap, just crying.”

La Toya also revealed Michael was not the biological father of ‘Blanket’, revealing the youngster was conceived via artificial insemination.

She said: “Michael didn’t want to know who the biological parents were. They took eggs from a donor and I believe the sperm came from one of five donors picked from a book.

“I don’t know who carried the child or if the surrogate knew whose child she was carrying. Those children were his greatest joy. He was a superstar but the only people who loved him unconditionally were the children.”

Trace Cyrus and Demi Lovato?

I don’t know what to think here. The other day, on the Erin Simpson show (okay, i don’t watch it but my sis does and i was in the kitchen making something (something i rarely do, really) and i hear Erin saying, Demi Lovato and Trace Cyrus are dating! And i’m like what the hell? TRACE CYRUS???? DEMI LOVATO???? It’s the Jonas Brothers getting married thing all over again (posted below!), it was unbelievable. The first thing that obviously comes in to mind is the disbelief i felt and then i realized, TRACE CYRUS??? DEMI LOVATO??? okay, i know, same thing, lol. It’s just…i don’t know if it’s a bad thing but i assumed it was just a bit weird and completely out of the blue. I mean, this is a Disney actress, known for her squeaky clean image and there to entertain tweens and children, going out with Trace, who’s all tattoos and piercings. I was expecting something like Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato or something…

okay, i’m totally not trying to offend them (because i think i’ve done enough offending for the week with the Disney thing) but i just can’t believe it. Maybe it’s a good thing, maybe they do go together…but i just have a hard time grasping it. Who am i to judge, though? i’m just a bored teenager, writing away on a laptop…if they wanted to they could go out…

And, after the initial shock, i remembered that Trace Cyrus was actually Miley Cyrus’s bro (okay, i know, that was so late remembering since that’s so obvious but all this shock and realization did happen in, like, five seconds). Anyway, that remembrance just brought up a Q…would Miley be okay with this? (if this actually is totally true because as we all know people tend to make up huge rumours but they have been, apparently, flirting a lot on Tweeters…) As we all know, Miley is a bit of drama queen, so, if she finds out, what will she say? Added to the whole older brother thing, if i’m not incorrect and totally out of order here, i think there was this little fight/feud/YouTube thing with Miley and Demi and Selena. So, i don’t know if that will influence Miley’s reaction but i think the feud thing was pretty huge…

Now, Demi Lovato’s been denying that she is going out (if they are) with Trace. She claims that they are only “really good friends”. But they’ve been flirting and acting more than just really good friends on Tweeters, apparently. So i can’t be sure of what’s going on. I mostly put up this post to tell you guys about my weird and random reaction.

Also, Demi’s 16 and Trace’s 20 and i think, maybe, he’s a little too old for her…

Maybe they could have something or all the internet rumours are just rumours. Only time will tell, really. And, again, i hope i’m not offending anyone (like a Demi/Trace fan or Disney fan) and i’m only just posting what my reaction was.

So, leave comments on what you think on this post (is it offending, completely stupid or do i atually have a point?) and don’t forget to check out the rest of the blog entries!!

The Thing about Hannah Montanna…

Look, we’re not trying to have a diss Disney session here or whatever, but just elaborating a bit on what Hafsa said about Disney stars and Hannah Montanna…
WARNING: If you are a Hannah Montanna/Miley Cyrus fan, i’d suggest you don’t read on.
And if you have decided to, let me just say this: I don’t mean to be rude and i’m not taking out some sort of personal revenge/grudge or anything, but i’m just saying it the way i see it. And the way i see it and have put it is slightly obnoxious, and i totally accept that.
With great power, comes great responsibility. And this applies also to fame… and especially to Miley Cyrus. Here’s why:
She has a lot of young fans, and i’m talking like five year olds, and she’s supposedly a role model to them. Well, i wouldn’t want my five year old sister or cousin to be looking up to someone who has scandals as often as she releases songs. So, maybe some of the scandals weren’t so much in her control (i’m not so convinced) but what really irritates me is her attitude. In life you don’t get everything you want so what makes her so different from the rest of us, lesser beings? (OK i know i’m starting to sound the slightest bit stingy and abhorrent) Her little episode with Radiohead, is what i’m talking about. For those of you who don’t know about this (i’m surprised, she pretty much ADVERTISED it internationally) here’s how the story goes; she was at the Grammy’s and Thom Yorke was four dressing rooms away from her so she asked her people to talk to Radiohead’s people and arrange a meeting. Their response? “We don’t really do that” and what does Miss The-World-Revolves-Around-Me do? She cries and throws this amazingly huge tantrum, because Radiohead refused to meet her. She even threatened to RUIN THEM. And who knew, Miley LOVES Radiohead, they’re her “rock god” and the only person she would “cry over”. If she really loved them as much as she claims to, she would know that Thom Yorke is really shy and reclusive and hanging out with a clingy, star-struck teenager at the Grammy’s, hours before his show was not on his bucket list.

And just so i don’t sound too cynical, she can make some nice music (but her music is NOT rock and she is NOT a rock star and neither are the Jo Bros) and as embarrassing as it is, i used to watch Hannah Montanna as a kid and liked it (i’m over it now, thankfully), but like i said, i’m not a big fan and the fact that she acts like she’s superior to everybody else doesn’t help the cause.

The Disney Problem

okay, this maybe completely random but this is what happened to me and what i realized…

okay, so, in some random show i was watching on Friday, some random girl was saying that Kevin Jonas was gonna get married! And i was like, what the hell?  See…this is what i’ve found on the net about the oldest Jonas bro…

One Jonas off the market

People magazine had the scoop: Kevin Jonas popped the question to girlfriend Danielle Deleasa early Wednesday morning in New Jersey.

And she said yes. (Smart girl.)

“She said ‘yes, yes, yes’ like 500 times super fast in a row,” the oldest of the Jonas Brothers told People.

Jonas, 21, and Deleasa, 22, met in May 2007 while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas.

He proposed after arriving in New Jersey on an overnight flight from a concert in Vancouver.

“It was tough performing last night, knowing that I was going to ask the biggest question in my life to the most amazing girl in the world,” he told People.

They haven’t set a wedding date yet.”

So he’s only 21 and planning to tie the knot. Personally, i’m not that in to the Jonas Bros. But this really caught my attention. And this leads to why i’m telling you guys this and why this post is just so random…

okay, so the Jonas Brothers are coated with Disney. I have nothing against old man Walt Disney or his production but me and most of the world knows that Disney produces a whole lot of stuff thats for the kids and the tweens. Being 15, Disney is a little too young for me. So, Kevin Jonas, a total Disney dude, getting married just seemed soo….i don’t know, weird to me. No offence to him, but i can never see him as a old- enough-to-get-married-guyDisney and i find it hard to actually grasp that he could be getting married anytime soon. It’s so weird, its like finding out a five year old’s getting married. I’m sorry, Kevin, i have nothing against you but i just can’t grasp that you are engaged and probably be married so soon! In any case, hope he has a really good life with her. btw, i found it totally cool that he chose a non-famous person as his fiance’/girlfriend cuz not many stars do that.

Anyway, something added to this, its not just Kevin Jonas that i find hard to grasp as a grown 21 year old. You guys know Demi Lovata, yeah, she made this video called Don’t Forget recently. The song’s pretty good and serious but i just can’t watch the video and have the same affect as a serious video would normally have on me. It’s all serious but her Disney Days just get in the way of the video being as effective. It’s weird.

I’m gonna put up Demi Lovata’s video. You guys check it out and tell us if it’s just me or do you guys find it hard to see Disney stars being so…un-Disney too!

Jackson’s ex says he’s not the father!!

Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe has admitted that the singer is not the father of his two eldest children.

In an interview with British tabloid News of the World Rowe says she was artificially inseminated with the sperm of an anonymous donor to conceive son Prince Michael, 12, and daughter Paris Michael, 11.

Rowe, who worked as a nurse at the practice of Jackson’s dermatologist before marrying the singer in a surprise Sydney ceremony in 1996 – told the paper she does not want custody of the two children and expects not to see them again.

“I was just the vessel,” she told the paper in an interview which ran yesterday. “I got paid for it, and I’ve moved on.

“I know I will never see my children again.”

Since Michael Jackson’s death Debbie Rowe is no longer bound by the confidentiality agreement she signed with the singer after their marriage. Rowe, 50, received a multi-million dollar payout following the couple’s divorce in return for giving up all custodial claims to her son and daughter.

She now lives on a ranch in a remote part of California which she shares with 11 dogs and around 30 horses.

Rowe agreed to have children for the singer after his first wife, Lisa Marie Presley, refused to start a family with him.

“I went to the ‘office’, which is what we called the medical clinic. They impregnated me. It’s just like I impregnate my mares for breeding. It was very technical.

“Just like I stick the sperm up my horse, this is what they did to me. I was his thoroughbred.”

The end of the couple’s union came, Rowe claims, after the difficult birth of daughter Paris. In a previous interview Michael Jackson admitted taking a newborn Paris from the hospital where she was born just hours after her birth, with the placenta still attached to the baby.

“The delivery was so hard. My insides were all torn up and I was barren. When he knew I couldn’t have any more babies he didn’t want anything to do with me.”

The couple never consummated their marriage, with Rowe receiving a kiss on the cheek from Jackson on their wedding night.

“He wanted to pretend that we were a family. But we never lived together as a couple. We never had sex. He was on the road, doing his thing.

“He never wanted to live with me. That’s why he bought me a house. There was always ‘my house’ and ‘his house’, never ‘our house’.

“We would jump in bed together and read magazines and watch movies, with all the animals around us before the kids were involved. We used to hang out with each other.

“But that was his life. That’s Michael. That was what it was like.”

Despite reports, she says she will not fight for custody of the Prince and Paris. The children are expected to live with their paternal grandmother, Katherine Jackson, in Encino, Los Angeles. Jackson’s youngest son Prince Michael II, also known as ‘Blanket,’ was born to an anonymous surrogate mother in 2002.

“I was never a good mother, I never felt any attachment to them. It was a better feeling giving them to him than it was keeping them as my own. “I was never cut out to be a mother – I was no good. I don’t want these children in my life. My children are my animals now.”

Article from Yahoo! Entertainment
Her just saying that ‘ I don’t want these children in my life. My children are my animals now.’, i wonder if she even thought ONCE what effect that may have on the kids. I mean, whatever, but she doesn’t have to be such a cow about it. Quite honestly, i think she’s right in saying she isn’t ‘cut out to be a mother’ because God forbid anyone having a mother like that! I just think it’s so wrong, how could she be telling the press this? God has she no shame?!

Michael Jackson’s family seeks second autopsy

Michael Jacksons Funeral

Michael Jackson's Funeral

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Michael Jackson’s family gathered at his parents’ suburban Los Angeles home on Saturday to make funeral arrangements for the troubled King of Pop amid reports that they are seeking a second, independent autopsy.
The entertainer’s father, Joseph, issued a statement calling his son’s death “one of the darkest moments of our lives” and urging fans not to despair.

Jackson’s body was returned to his family on Friday night after an examination by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office failed to determine what killed the 50-year-old entertainer, pending toxicology tests that were expected to take weeks.Meanwhile a lawyer for Dr. Conrad Murray, who was at Jackson’s rented mansion in the Holmby Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles when he collapsed, said the physician had agreed to answer questions from police detectives.

“Dr. Murray intends to fully cooperate with investigators and law enforcement as they attempt to piece together what happened,” attorney Bill Stradley told Reuters in an interview.

“Contrary to what has been out there, Dr. Murray has been cooperating with authorities from the outset and will continue to do so,” Stradley said. “The impression that he has been hiding from authorities, that’s not correct.”

Murray was desperately trying to revive Jackson when paramedics arrived and he rode with the singer in an ambulance to the hospital where the pop star was pronounced dead.

Police have said they wanted to further question Murray, a Houston-based cardiologist, about the circumstances of Jackson’s death but had not been able to arrange an interview.

Murray’s silver Mercedes was towed from the home where Jackson died so detectives could search it for evidence and medication.

MOVING VANS EMPTY HOME

The celebrity website TMZ.com reported that a second autopsy was underway at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, on the orders of the Jackson family.

Speculation has centred on Jackson’s use of prescription drugs and reports that he was injected with the narcotic painkiller Demerol shortly before he went into cardiac arrest.

Coroner’s officials have said that with no outward signs of trauma to Jackson’s body or evidence of foul play, they would have to wait for the results of toxicology tests and other studies to establish a cause of death.

Few other details were released about the autopsy’s findings, but Fox News reported on its website that investigators had found his body to be healthier and stronger than they had expected, with some scarring on the face.

Moving van crews emptied the rental home of Jackson’s belongings, reportedly on the orders of his father, Joseph, who was concerned they would be stolen.

In his statement to fans, Joseph Jackson said: “In one of the darkest moments of our lives we find it hard to find the words appropriate to this sudden tragedy we all had to encounter.”

He added: “We miss Michael endlessly, our pain cannot be described in words. … But please do not despair, because Michael will continue to live on in each and every one of you.”

Fans thronged outside the family home in suburban Encino, festooning a fence bordering the property with signs, balloons, flowers and stuffed animals.

“Michael was a flower of the world,” 48-year-old artist Karen Mack said as she laid two paintings devoted to her idol along the fence. “His strangeness was an uncomfortable factor but everything else made up for it.”

Facing a battered reputation and a mountain of debt that The Wall Street Journal reported ran to $500 million (302.5 million pounds), Jackson spent the last two months of his life rehearsing for a series of London concerts that were seen as a make-or-break comeback for the man who dominated the pop charts in the 1980s.

Drug use key question in Jackson’s sudden death

Image from mediabistro.com

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – One day after Michael Jackson’s sudden death, speculation turned to what killed the 50-year-old “King of Pop” on the cusp of a long-awaited comeback concert series.

A family attorney said on Friday he had been concerned that Jackson’s use of prescription drugs for dancing-related injuries would eventually prove fatal and that the entertainer’s inner circle had ignored his warnings.

A Jackson family member told celebrity website TMZ.com the singer had been given an injection of the painkiller Demerol before he went into full cardiac arrest at his rental home around midday on Thursday. TMZ soon after broke the news that Jackson had died at a Los Angeles hospital.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office said the autopsy would begin Friday morning, but it could take six to eight weeks to determine a cause of death, which will likely have to wait for the return of toxicology tests. Those tests will determine if Jackson had any drugs, alcohol or prescription medications in his system.

LEGIONS OF FANS

At dawn on Hollywood Boulevard, fans gathered at Jackson’s star on the Walk of Fame to honor the former child prodigy who became one of the best-selling pop artists of all time before descending into a strange and reclusive lifestyle amid accusations of child molestation.

“His music was the soundtrack of my childhood,” said Tassa Hampton, 32, as she knelt to light a white votive candle amid a growing pile of flowers and posters. “I didn’t realize what a loss it was until he was gone.”

Jackson’s passing was front-page news around the world as airwaves filled with his greatest hits from “Thriller” to “Billie Jean” and social networking sites were bombarded with messages and tributes from fans and musicians.

“It’s so sad and shocking,” former Beatle Paul McCartney said. “I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever.”

The family has yet to announce details of funeral services. Jackson’s body was flown by helicopter from the hospital to the coroner’s office late Thursday.

Lawyer Brian Oxman, a spokesman for the Jackson family, told CBS’s “The Early Show” Friday that he had been concerned about the prescription drugs that Jackson took due to injuries suffered while performing.

“I had warned everyone that I could warn and I told them that one day, Michael Jackson is going to wake up dead, which is a very odd way of putting it,” Oxman said.

“I do not want to point fingers at anyone because I want to hear what the toxicology report says and the coroner says but the plain fact of the matter is that Michael Jackson had prescription drugs at his disposal at all times,” he said.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide division searched Jackson’s home in the upscale Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles at the behest of Chief William Bratton.

The doctor who lived at Michael Jackson’s house is missing, TMZ reported. A law enforcement source told TMZ that the doctor, whose name is not known, gave Jackson an injection before he died.

Facing a battered reputation and a mountain of debt which The Wall Street Journal reported ran to $500 million, Jackson had spent the last two months rehearsing for the London concerts, including Wednesday at the huge Staples Center arena, home to the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.

A complex process began in London to refund ticketholders, including people who bought tickets for sell-out shows from unauthorized dealers. A pair of “VIP” passes was offered on e-Bay recently for 16,000 pounds (over $25,000).

In death, Jackson’s music enjoyed a commercial renaissance that had eluded him for years. His songs surged to the top 15 slots on online retailer Amazon.com Inc’s best-selling albums within hours.

TAINTED TALENT?

Jackson dominated the charts in the 1980s and was one of the most successful entertainers of all time, with a lifetime sales tally estimated at 750 million records, 13 Grammy Awards and several seminal music videos.

“Michael was and will remain one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived,” said Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Jackson’s first label boss. “He was exceptional, artistic and original. He gave the world his heart and soul through his music.”

Jackson’s reputation as a singer and dancer was overshadowed in recent years by his increasingly abnormal appearance and bizarre lifestyle, which included his friendship with a chimp and a preference for the company of children.

He named his estate in the central California foothills Neverland Valley Ranch, in tribute to J.M. Barrie’s Peter Panstories, and built amusement park rides and a petting zoo.

Jackson was twice accused of molesting young boys and was charged in 2003 with child sexual abuse. He became even more reclusive following his 2005 acquittal and vowed he would never again live at Neverland.

Despite reports of Jackson’s ill health, the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors.

Jackson was born on Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, the seventh of nine children, and first performed with his brothers as a member of the Jackson 5.

His 1982 album “Thriller” yielded seven top-10 singles. The album sold 21 million copies in the United States and at least 27 million internationally.

The following year, he unveiled his signature “moonwalk” dance move, gliding across the stage and setting off an instant trend, while performing “Billie Jean” during an NBC special.

In 1994, Jackson married Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1996.

Jackson married Debbie Rowe the same year and had two children, before splitting in 1999, and he later had another child with an unidentified surrogate mother.

He is survived by three children named Prince Michael I, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, known for a brief public appearance when his father displayed him to fans in Germany by holding him over the railing of a hotel balcony. (Editing by Mohammad Zargham)

Jackson ‘on medication’ before death

Michael Jackson, who died of cardiac arrest, was taking prescription drugs to get into shape for his concert comeback next month, a family lawyer says.

Jackson died on Thursday, sending shockwaves sweeping across the world and prompting tributes for the tortured music icon revered as the “King of Pop.”

Jackson, 50, collapsed at his rented mansion in the exclusive Los Angeles neighbourhood of Holmby Hills and was rushed to hospital by paramedics before being pronounced dead at 2.26 pm on Thursday (0726 AEST Friday).

Jackson, one of the most influential figures in pop music history whose four-decade career included the highest-selling album of all-time, Thriller, had been preparing for a concert comeback in London next month that he had dubbed “the final curtain.”

The tour was to be the first of a series of shows in more than a decade and the first since his 2005 child molestation trial.

Jackson had pushed back the opening dates last month, although organisers insisted the delay was not linked to Jackson’s health.

Randy Phillips of concert backers AEG Live said at the time: “I would trade my body for his tomorrow. He’s in fantastic shape.”

But Jackson lawyer and family spokesman Brian Oxman said he had had concerns about the singer’s condition, revealing that Jackson had been taking prescription medication as he prepared for his comeback.

Oxman compared Jackson’s fate to the overdose death of Playboy centrefold Anna-Nicole Smith, voicing concern over “enablers” in his entourage.

“The people who have surrounded him have been enabling him … if you think that the case of Anna-Nicole Smith was an abuse, it was nothing to what we have seen in Michael Jackson’s life,” Oxman told CNN.

“When you warn people that this is what’s going to happen and then it happens – where there’s smoke there’s fire.”

News of Jackson’s death triggered an outpouring of grief as shocked pop music superstars, foreign governments and devoted fans paid tribute to the troubled star who struggled to rebuild his career after a 2005 acquittal for child abuse.

Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Lieutenant Fred Corral said an autopsy would is likely to be carried out on Friday. He would not speculate on the exact cause of death.

Jackson’s brother Jermaine, the family’s official spokesman, later revealed physicians had battled for more than an hour to revive the star after his arrival at the UCLA Medical Centre, before he was pronounced dead.

“Our family requests that the media please respect our privacy during this tough time,” Jermaine Jackson said.

“May Allah be with you, Michael, always.”

As the sun began to sink over Los Angeles, a coroner’s office helicopter bearing Jackson’s body took off from the UCLA Medical Centre, where hundreds of media and fans had gathered throughout the day.

Meanwhile, police motorcycle riders surrounded Jackson’s gated mansion as crowds of tourists and fans gathered, snapping photographs of the property’s wrought iron gates.

Pop diva Madonna was among dozens of celebrities who struggled to cope.

“I can’t stop crying over the sad news. The world has lost one of the greats but his music will live on forever.” the singer said in a statement

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband also posted his thoughts on micro-blogging site Twitter.

“Never has one soared so high and yet dived so low. RIP Michael,” Miliband wrote.

Lana Brown, a 49-year-old tourist from Dallas, broke down in tears as she digested the news.

“Right today I can’t believe we might have lost the best entertainer this world has ever seen,” she told AFP.

While Jackson ruled the charts and dazzled audiences with electric dance moves like the backwards “moonwalk” in the 1980s, his once-stellar career was overshadowed by his colourful public behaviour, his startling physical transformation and multiple allegations of child abuse.

Jackson lived as a virtual recluse following his 2005 acquittal on charges including child molestation and plotting to kidnap his young accuser.

Despite his acquittal, the trial was a body blow from which the pop music superstar, who named his ranch for Peter Pan’s “Neverland” of perpetual childhood and furnished it with Disney-inspired rides, struggled to recover.

Four years later, Jackson was still worshipped by fans for revolutionising music, dance and music videos at the peak of his success.

The attention paid to him in recent years was less flattering, focusing on apparent cosmetic surgery – which he denied – his baby dangling antics and a decade of child abuse allegations.

Born on August 29, 1958, Jackson made his show business debut with four of his older brothers in the Jackson Five pop group and went on to lead the stage clan with a piping soprano and dazzling dance moves.

By 1969 the group had signed a contract with Motown Records, becoming one of the last great acts to emerge from the legendary label.

The Jacksons produced seven platinum singles for Motown, selling more than a million, and three multi-platinum albums, selling more than two million. They moved to CBS’s Epic Records in 1976.

Despite the early success, Jackson was to recall those years as unhappy and lonely ones. Eventually the family act broke up and Jackson went solo.

In 1979, Quincy Jones produced Jackson’s first solo album for Epic, Off the Wall, a huge disco-oriented success that sold 10 million copies.

They teamed up again in 1982 for what would be Jackson’s breakthrough album as a composer and co-producer – Thriller. It became the top-selling album of all time, with sales exceeding 41 million.

Jones reacted with shock after being informed of Jackson’s death on Thursday.

“I’m absolutely devastated at this news. I just don’t have the words. Divinity brought our souls together and allowed us to do what we could do through the ’80s,” Jones said.

“To this day that music is played in every corner of the world and the reason is because he had it all – talent, grace, and professionalism.

“I’ve lost my little brother today and part of my soul has gone with him.”
