Spider-Man 4… Without Tobey Maguire

Yup, you read it right… Spider-Man 4 without the trademark face.

Tobey Maguire is being replaced in Spider-Man 4  by Andrew Garfield (Air, I’m Here, Never Let Me Go).

Andrew Garfield

Before Andrew Garfield was named the new Spidey, he had some pretty tough competition going, with Josh Hutcherson, Logan Lerman, Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Aaron Johnson, Anton Yelchin, Zac Effron and the Hollywood hotshot of the moment, Robert Pattinson, all long and short listed for the role. Now that, must have been one tough decision to make!

Spider-Man 4, currently untitled, but known as ‘Untitled Spider-Man Reboot’, is still in it’s early stages of production. In fact, it’s not scheduled for filming till December this year.

You thought that was a bit of a wait? Release date: July 3, 2012.

Yup. July 2012.  Spider-Man fans, we have a long wait ahead of us.

So, what’s the story that’s been stewing in the media for a while now?
To be honest, I was a bit confused myself, so I did my homework and look what I dug up…

When they say reboot, Sony really means reboot. We’re talking Peter Parker back at high school, a complete reboot of the franchise… new cast, meaning bye-bye Tobey Maguire (as mentioned before… 😦 ) and bye-bye Kirsten Dunst (I think she’s getting a little old to play the high school MJ but all the same, we’re sad to see her go).

Not only are the classic faces gone, but also the classic Spider-Man director Sam Raimi. The new film will be directed by Marc Webb and scripts written by James Vanderbilt, along with Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. There are assumptions that the reboot will be based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. Those are the rumours floating about, after creator of comics Brian Michael Bendis met with the movie crew.

Sam Raimi

And what brought this reboot on? Rumour has it that Raimi withdrew after claiming he wouldn’t be able to make the movie’s 2011 release date and maintain the high creative and quality standard expected of any Spider-Man film.

Fair enough, I reckon.

“Working on the ‘Spider-Man’ movies was the experience of a lifetime for me. While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job,” said Sam Raimi.

Sony has also confirmed that the Spidey reboot will be in 3D, so that’s something to look forward to as well.

I’ve summed up what I know and if you want to enlighten me with any more goss on this issue, please go ahead, I’d love to hear. 🙂 After all, we’re huge Spidey fans here at Ebony Ink!

Drop a comment and let us know what you think… Maguire/Garfield, Raimi/Webb… we wanna hear what you have to say!

2012

2012 is a movie, released on November 12th (although the date is varied in various countries), and is based on a famous belief that the world’s going to end. I have a friend who’s already freaking out because of this movie and the belief that surrounds it. Personally i think this is just the media’s way of scaring us in to saving the planet from global warming and stuff like that. Anyway, i was curious and so i went on google and searched for 2012. As expected Wikipedia gave me a whole lot of stuff on this common belief. Along with the info, there was this curious timeline of “scheduled” ( they actually used that word) events that could occur before the world ends (according to them, anyway). Below you’ll find this list of events…

January

January 13–22 – The first Winter Youth Olympics will be held in Innsbruck, Austria.

January 31 – 433 Eros, the second-largest Near Earth Object on record (size 13×13×33 km) will pass Earth at 0.1790 astronomical units (26,778,019 km; 16,639,090 mi). NASA studied Eros with the NEAR Shoemaker probe launched on February 17, 1996.[3]

February

February 6 – Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II marking the 60th anniversary of her accession to the Thrones of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia & New Zealand (as well as the 60th anniversary of her becoming Head of the Commonwealth).

March

March 22 – Unless the European Council votes to extend current copyright law, The Beatles’ debut album, Please Please Me, will fall out of copyright.[4]

April

April 17 – The United States will cede wartime control of the military of the Republic of Korea after 50 years and dissolve the Combined Forces Command. Two distinct military commands (South Korea and the United States) will operate in Korea during wartime, rather than one unified command under the Combined Forces Command.[citation needed]

May

May 20 – Annular solar eclipse. Path of annularity runs through the Pacific Ocean from northern China to California.

June

June 6 – The second and last solar transit of Venus of the century. The next pair is predicted to occur in 2117 and 2125.

June 9 – July 1 – The UEFA Euro 2012 will be played in Poland and Ukraine.

June 18 – June 23 – Turing Centenary Conference at the University of Cambridge, in honor of the mathematician, computer scientist, and cryptographer Alan Turing, the last day of the conference being the hundredth anniversary of his birth. [1]

July

July 18–21 – The 2012 World Rowing Championships will be held at Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

July 27 – Opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics begins in London at 7:30 pm UTC, 8:30pm BST.[5]

August

August 12 – Closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, a Sunday.

August 29 – Start of the 2012 Summer Paralympics.

November

November 13 – Total solar eclipse (visible in northern Australia and the South Pacific).

November 28 – Penumbral lunar eclipse.

December

December 3 – Jupiter in opposition.

December 17 – Members of the Electoral College meet in each U.S. state.

December 21 – 11:11 UTC. Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.[6]

December 21 – The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, notably used by the pre-Columbian Maya civilization among others, completes a “great cycle” of thirteen b’ak’tuns (periods of 144,000 days each) since the mythical creation date of the calendar’s current era.[7] On this day the Long Count date at creation—written 13.0.0.0.0 in modern notation, equivalent to August 11, 3114 BC in the proleptic Gregorian calendar—is repeated for the first time in a span of a little over 5,125 solar years.[8] The completion of this cycle and the repetition of the previous Creation’s Long Count ending date have been central to the 2012 phenomenon. Academic researchers have not concluded that the ancient Maya themselves attached similar significance to this point in time.[9]

December 23 – An alternative date for the completion of the thirteenth B’ak’tun in the Long Count calendar, calculated using another version of the GMT correlation[10] which is supported by a few Mayanist researchers.[11]

December 31 – The Kyoto Protocol will expire.

As for the movie…i won’t ruin the plot for you. You should check it out though. Here’s the trailer below for anyone who wants a little peek before facing the real thing…

The movie looks good, but again i don’t think i believe that this will really happen. Actually i don’t know if this will actually happen. I mean, we can’t predict the future, can we? And believing so hard on theories and scaring ourselves is not going to help so i really can’t bring myself to get scared about this. But that’s my opinion. We, at Ebony Ink, want to know your opinion on this movie and the theory it’s based on. So leave us a comment and enjoy the movie (if your going to watch it).

Joker

Okay so as you might have guessed already, we’re huge Joker fans around here (he’s been our Star Guest too, some really cool pics on there so check it out). So I thought why not take a pic of the sketch I did (that I am VERY proud of, if I may say so myself, as I’m not an artist) of Heath Ledger as the Joker. You may see some resemblance but I don’t promise anything ;).

The lips didn’t turn out quite right, he’s meant to have that signature smirk.

Sooo all you artists out there… any tips? (please? lol I need them!)

And just because I’m curious…

Jackson’s Death a Homicide…

Pop star Michael Jackson’s death has been ruled a homicide from an overdose of the anaesthetic propofol and other drugs, and police will refer the case to prosecutors for possible criminal charges, officials said on Friday.

The coroner’s ruling fuelled speculation that his doctor may face a criminal charge of manslaughter or worse.

The Los Angeles County Coroner said in a statement that propofol and the sedative lorazepam were the primary drugs responsible for Jackson’s June 25 death at the age of 50.

Other drugs found in the singer’s body were midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine.

Separately, the Los Angeles Police Department said its investigation was continuing but that police were referring the case to prosecutors for possible criminal charges.

Jackson, whose “Thriller” CD remains the best-selling album of all time, died suddenly after suffering cardiac arrest in a rented Los Angeles mansion only weeks before he was to begin a series of comeback concerts.

Houston-based doctor Conrad Murray was hired to care for the singer while he prepared for the concerts, and he was at Jackson’s bedside the day he died. Murray has admitted to police that he administered propofol, which is generally used in surgery, to help Jackson sleep.

In court documents, police have said Murray is the subject of a manslaughter investigation but officials have also looked into care provided to Jackson by other doctors who may have prescribed other drugs to him.

A spokesman for Murray’s lawyer said the attorney had no immediate comment.

POTENT DRUGS COCKTAIL

The list of drugs in Jackson’s system reads like a cocktail of sedatives, painkillers and one stimulant. Midazolam is a sedative similar to propofol, used to make patients drowsy but not unconscious during procedures such as colonoscopies.

Diazepam, the generic version of Valium, is used to calm anxiety, while lidocaine is a painkiller and ephedrine is a stimulant.

The coroner said the complete toxicology report remained sealed at the request of the Los Angeles police and the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Forensics expert Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky, who chairs the Department of Science at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is not involved in the case, said that absent the full report, it was difficult to determine whether charges would be filed against Dr. Murray and what those charges would be.

He said prosecutors would be looking at the amount of propofol and other drugs in Jackson’s system, whether errors were made in administering drugs in combination, and whether Murray gave proper dosages or a lethal dosage.

“If he administered a lethal dose of propofol, they could charge him with negligent homicide,” Kobilinsky said.

But for now, police have only said in affidavits obtained to search Murray’s office that he is the subject of an investigation for the lesser charge of manslaughter.

A spokesman for Jackson’s family issued a statement on Friday saying the family commended the actions of the coroner and other law enforcement groups and “looks forward to the day that justice can be served.”

Katherine Jackson to get custody

Michael Jackson’s mother has agreed a deal to get custody of his children.

Katherine Jackson – who became the temporary guardian of Prince Michael I, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II shortly after her son’s death last month – has reportedly reached an agreement with the eldest two children’s biological mother Debbie Rowe.

Katherine’s lawyer L. Londell McMillan told US TV programme ‘Early Show’: “It’s an agreement, an agreement for the best interests of the children. This is not a money deal. This is not about money.

“There is no situation better for these children than for them to be raised and reared in the loving care of Mrs. Katherine Jackson.”

It is believed Katherine will be given full custody, while Debbie will receive visitation rights.

Debbie will not be given any money, contrary to reports she was willing to accept a lump sump to give up her rights to the children.

The Los Angeles Times newspaper claims a child psychologist will be hired to discuss how, when and where Debbie’s visits should take place.

Various reports suggest Prince Michael I and Paris have had little or no contact with their mother since she divorced Michael in 1999, when she gave up her parental rights claiming he was the best father imaginable.

McMillan also responded to claims Michael did not want his father Joe Jackson – who Michael accused of physically abusing him when he was a child – to help raise his kids.

He said: “I don’t think it’s valid at all. I think Joe Jackson is the husband of Mrs. Jackson, but he’s not living in Los Angeles.”

McMillan also spoke about Michael’s 2002 will, in which he named lawyer John Branca and former music executive John McClain as the executors of his estate.

Katherine is arguing she should be kept abreast of any decision made relating to Michael’s estate, even though she was not named an executor.

Howard Weitzman, the lawyer for Branca and McClain, argues Katherine and her attorneys are trying to “re-write Michael’s will” so she can be more involved.

McMillan said: “He’s incorrect. Mrs. Jackson is not contesting the will. We are not trying to rewrite the will. Our concern is for anyone to have extraordinary powers, they need to have extraordinary trust and integrity.

“The question is what happened to this will in 2002? How come no one knew about it? How come Mrs. Jackson didn’t know about it? How come I didn’t know about it? How come we learned about it the day we filed a petition in court stating he died without a will?

“That estate is worth, in my estimation, a couple of billion dollars. You hear $500 million. Don’t buy it.”

Michael Jackson died with doll

Michael Jackson was cuddling a doll when he died.

A Los Angeles Police Department source has claimed the ‘King of Pop’ spent his last night snuggling up to the “child-sized porcelain doll”, which was wearing a dress.

Detectives reportedly found the “bizarre toy” on the bed where Michael collapsed into a coma last month.

The source claims the star was “living in squalor” in the months before he died, with clothes and other items strewn around his bedroom in his rented Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles, which was kept “stiflingly hot”.

There were strange notes, apparently handwritten by Michael himself, stuck onto the room’s walls bearing the words “children are sweet” and “children are innocent”.
The police officer said: “The temperature upstairs was stiflingly hot, with gas fireplaces and the heating system on high because Jackson always complained of feeling cold.

“The singer’s bedroom was a mess, with items seemingly thrown about and some 20 handwritten notes stuck on the walls. A porcelain girl doll wearing a dress was found on top of the covers of the bed where he slept.”

The officer also claims the singer’s staff were banned from entering his room to clean up the mess.

Meanwhile, the fight for Michael’s inheritance between his mother Katherine and the attorneys for the singer’s estate and concert promoter AEG Live has intensified.

After losing a bid to be named temporary administrator of her son’s estate, Katherine has demanded to see hundreds of financial documents, including contracts her son had with his record label, concert officials and even his father Joseph.

In papers filed at Los Angeles Superior Court, Katherine said: “The special administrators of Michael’s estate have, up to this point, refused all requests. They are apparently intent on keeping me in the dark as much and for as long as possible.”

Attorneys for AEG Live – the company promoting Michael’s comeback concerts in London – argued Katherine could not be granted access to the documents because she “would not uphold a confidentiality agreement”.

Papers filed by AEG Live said: “Without the safeguards necessary to ensure the continued confidentiality of the artist agreement and any proposed modifications, AEG cannot provide such information to Ms. Jackson or her counsel without risking serious harm to its business.”

Holiday in Exile…

THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER!!!

I know this is a bit of a late reaction but i havent had time to do much on this blog. it’s been work work and getting over the depression that comes with the start of term…

now that i’m talking about school and holidays…did you guys know that holiday is YASUMI in Japanese and school holiday is GAKKO NO YASUMI…pretty interesting, aye???? Those are permenantly learned words from my jap class. yes, gasp all you want, i take japanese Poutyit’s not a big deal and not a such horrid subject. there are positives things about the subject…i don’t get why so many people dislike it. sometimes it’s just so annoying that people do that, judge something without knowing the full detail about it. that brings me to one thing i find very irritating…when people go to great lengths to dislike and say something is really bad and they have never actually done, watched or been in that situation before. Prejudiced much?

anyway, the other reason (apart from whining about school starting and judgmental humans) i came on and wrote this post was because i wanted you guys to check this out…

Robots

14 robots last time, 46 robots this time (ILM only)

If you had all the gold ever mined in the history of man, you could build a little more than half of Devastator.

Optimus Prime will be life size on IMAX screens in many forest fight shots.

Devastator’s hand is traveling 390 miles per hour when he punches the pyramid.

The pyramid destruction simulation was 8 times bigger than the old rigid simulation all-time record holder at ILM.

All robot parts laid out end to end would stretch from one side of California to the other, about 180 miles

Devastator’s parts stacked tip to tip would be as tall as 58 empire state buildings.

If all the texture maps on the show were printed on 1 square yard sheets, they would cover 13 football fields.

Disk space

TF1 took 20 Terabytes of disk space. Trans2 took 145 Terabytes. Seven times bigger!

145 terabytes would fill 35,000 DVDs. Stacked one on top of the other without storage cases, they would be 145 feet tall.

Rendering times

If you rendered the entire movie on a modern home PC, you would have had to start the renders 16,000 years ago (when cave paintings like the Hall of Bulls were being made) to finish for this year’s premiere!

A single imax shot in the movie (df250) would have taken almost 3 years to render on a top of the line home PC running nonstop.

IMAX frame render times: As high as 72 hours per frame!

Imax

Optimus Prime will be life size on IMAX screens in many forest fight shots.

Imax frames take about 6 times longer than anamorphic to render.

IMAX frame render times: As high as 72 hours per frame!

ILM screen time

ILM Screen Time is about 51 minutes.

Devastator

Devastator is as tall as a 10 story building.

Devastator has more than 10 times the number of individual parts found in an average car.

Laid out end to end, Devastator’s parts would be almost 14 miles long.

Devastator totals

Number of geom pieces: 52632

The total number of polygons: 11,716,127

The total length of all pieces: 73090 feet

The total length of all pieces: 13.84 miles

A bit of brain sore, that lot of facts. But hope you learned something! And once again, i would like to point out Transformers ROCK!!!

PS: Me and Alisha are gonna update the STORIES AND MORE page. So check it out and comment because these are stories we’ve written and it’s important to us that we get opinions in order to fix them up and improve. Thank you!  Rolllol, i think if i really smiled like that i would break my face and end up with a permenant grin…just like the joker!!!

Michael’s nose MIA at autopsy

Michael Jackson’s nose was missing as he lay in state.

An eyewitness claims he saw the ‘Beat It’ singer’s body on an autopsy table of a Los Angeles morgue with part of his face completely disappeared.

The witness said: “The prosthesis he normally attached to his damaged nose was missing, revealing bits of cartilage surrounding a small dark hole.”

Jackson – who died a month ago today of a suspected cardiac arrest – was believed to have had a number of surgical operations change the shape of his nose, which eventually eroded it away. He was also thought to be obsessed with plastic surgery and altering his appearance.

The witness added: “Jackson’s face – which he had so painfully reworked and concealed from the public for decades now – lay out in the open undisguised under the harsh lights.”

One of the ‘King Of Pop’s former housekeepers has previously told how the singer kept a number of false noses, which he applied using plasters and glue.

Adrian McManus said: “In his closet he had a jar of fake noses and stage glue, which he told me he used for disguises. But some were similar to his real nose, just without the hole.”

Reasons for Jackson’s fascination with surgery are unclear, though he has hinted it was because he was bullied as a child. Other sources said he was desperate not to look like his father, Joe Jackson, whom he had accused of hitting him as a youngster and making fun of his appearance.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles police have named the pop legend’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray as a manslaughter suspect in a probe into the star’s death.

Although toxicology reports have not confirmed the exact cause of Jackson’s death, it is believed he had dangerous levels of intravenously administered anaesthetic drug Propofol in his body at the time of his passing.

Dr Murray was with the singer when he died and also made an attempt to revive him.

A warrant issued by police allowed officers to search Murray’s assets for: “Property or items constituting evidence of the offence of manslaughter that tend to show Dr Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offence.”

Murray denies involvement in the singer’s death.

Well there is only one thing i have to say about this article form Yahoo! Entertainment…have some respect for the deceased. Who really cares what he did in his free time with his nose and stage glue?  Facsinating, yes, but c’mon, it’s been a month since his death… and yes i do know i’m sounding pretty hypocritical here considering i put the article up, but only because i know there are heaps of MJ fans out there who would like to know this stuff-but also because i thought to make a point about what i think, and that is that the media needs to give it all a rest right about now. it’s major news and all but the family is in mourning and besides, the guy really deserves some respect, and it doesn’t make a difference about who he was or what he did with his life.

Prince Michael watched dad die

Michael Jackson’s eldest son was forced to watch his father die, the singer’s family have claimed.

The pop superstar’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, allegedly made 12-year-old Prince Michael I watch his attempts to resuscitate him after he suffered a suspected cardiac arrest as he wanted a witness.

However, the Jackson family believe Michael had already been dead for at least two hours and Murray’s actions left Prince “understandably traumatised”.

Dr. Hoefflin, a family friend speaking on behalf of Michael’s mother Katherine, told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “I have been told by the family and from talking to the children that on the day Michael died, Dr. Murray actually got one of the Jackson children – it was Prince Michael I – to personally come into the bedroom to watch him perform CPR on his father.

“The family have told me Dr. Murray ensured Prince Michael understood the CPR procedure and that he was doing it correctly. It is the family’s belief that this was intended to show a member of Michael’s family that he was trying to bring Michael back to life.
“In my opinion Dr Murray should have known Michael was already dead and I believe that is the reason he didn’t move him from the bed to the harder surface of the floor to perform CPR.”

While Prince still struggles to come to terms with his father’s death his 11-year-old sister Paris is dealing with her grief by sleeping with a teddy bear her dad gave her.

Michael’s brother Jermaine said: “Paris sleeps with a teddy bear with Michael’s scent on – it’s so cute. It’s a little doll that he gave her and she sleeps holding it every night.”

Prince and Paris are also helping their younger brother, seven-year-old Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket’, come to terms with the loss of their beloved father.

Jermaine added: “I think ‘Blanket’ understands his dad has passed because of the ceremony we had. Prince and Paris are very bright and they have tried to explain it to him. And there is therapist with them to get through this time as well.”

Meanwhile, lawyers handling Michael’s estate are seeking a court-ordered allowance for his three children and mother Katherine.

A lawyer representing the temporary executors of his estate asked a judge to approve the allowance and the requests will be considered on August 3.
